We just purchased a brand new house. Should the builders provide things such as a mail box?
shootingstar809 asked:
Just wondering what exactly their obligations are and what they need to provide for us…We were just informed by the post office that the mail box next to the door is inadequate, and we need one by the curb. Is it the builders obligation to have this put in for us?

What you bought is what you get.
Call the builder and tell them they made a mistake and see if they give you a new box.
You should have gotten a one year warranty for the home.
Keep a tablet (or computer list) of everything you find wrong with the home and send the list to the builder about the 10th month.
You may experience nail pops in the walls and ceiling. These are round dents or bulges caused by the drywall drying out. It is natural. Keep a list of the nail pops (pictures are better) and let them fix all of them after the winter, (that is when housed dry the most.)

Never hurts to ask. But we had to put up our own. Ask the p.o. they have rules about how high and how big it can be..

I would think so, but those things should be spelled out in your contract with the builder. If you bought recently and the development is still being build, raise your voice to the builder and I’m sure he will do what you need. They don’t need bad PR , it’s hard enough to sell a house these days.

We do have a one year home warranty? to me that’s way to short, 5 years should be the minimum, as for the letter box, unless your builder is not from that area he should of known because this would have happened to him before. I’d tell the builder the post office is refusing to deliver the mail because the letter box is not built to local code and could he get it up to code.

the mail box you get on your own. the builder is usually responsible for
the site prep and the construction of the home. it says on your warrenty
what its good for. you can call the ins. co. and give them your acct. no.
they will tell you whats covered.

when u get a new house it should be ready to move in everything there yes mail box light bulbs ect u should not sign the paper untill everything is ready the builder unless a cheap ass would know that if u already moved in then it might be cheaper to just go get one its like 15 buck and a pole but if your builder dont then i dont know hes sorry gl was talking did not read all yes if he put it in the wrong spot he should have known if he was a real builder i might have my house inspected to make sure it was built right dont want to scare u but i have seen builders that dont know what they are doing
